Privacy Policy

Overview

MKM Games is a small set of sites run by an individual maker. This policy covers mkmgames.com, our free puzzle game sites (connect, bridges, grids, starbattle, skyscrapers, futoshiki and loops.mkmgames.com, listed on our Online Games page), and the optional account service at account.mkmgames.com. There are no payment forms and no contact forms. Accounts are optional and exist only to save puzzle progress. This policy explains the little bit of data that is collected along the way.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, on mkmgames.com and our puzzle game sites to see aggregate traffic like page views and referring sites. On the puzzle game sites it also counts anonymous game events, such as a puzzle being solved (with its level and time) or a hint being used, so we can tell which puzzles are too easy or too hard. Umami does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not store your IP address or any other personally identifying information — the data we see is anonymized and aggregated.

Our sites are hosted on Cloudflare, which handles the network traffic needed to deliver them (including your IP address, for delivery and security). Cloudflare's Web Analytics, which may also run on our pages, does not use cookies or fingerprinting and reports only aggregate visits and page performance. Cloudflare's privacy policy covers its part.

There is no cookie consent banner because no tracking or advertising cookies are set. The only cookie is the sign-in cookie for optional accounts, described below.

Puzzle games and your progress

Our puzzle games save your progress (which puzzles you've solved, your best times, and any puzzle you're partway through) in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It isn't sent to us unless you sign in to an account. Clearing your browser's data for these sites deletes it.

Optional accounts

You never need an account to play. If you create one at account.mkmgames.com, it keeps your solved puzzles and best times on every device you sign in on. We store only:

• the username you choose,
• your password, stored only as a salted one-way hash (we can't see or recover it),
• a hashed copy of your recovery code, used if you forget your password,
• your solved puzzles and best times for each game.

We don't ask for an email address, your name, or any other contact details. A sign-in cookie on account.mkmgames.com keeps you signed in for up to 180 days; it's used only for signing in, never for tracking or advertising. To prevent abuse, failed sign-in attempts (with the username) and new sign-ups (with the network address) are logged briefly and deleted after about a day. Account data is stored with Cloudflare in North America.

Deleting your account: sign in at account.mkmgames.com and choose "Delete my account". Your account and saved progress are removed right away. Progress saved on your device stays until you clear your browser's data.

Fonts

Our sites load typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). Loading a font this way sends your browser's IP address and user-agent string to Google as part of the standard request for the font file, the same as requesting any resource from a third-party server. Google's own privacy policy covers how they handle that request.

Links to Amazon and Etsy

Our puzzle and coloring books are sold on Amazon and on our Etsy shop. The "Buy on Amazon" and "Download on Etsy" buttons on this site are plain outbound links — once you click through, you're on Amazon's or Etsy's own site, governed by their own privacy policies and not ours. We don't receive any personal or payment information from purchases made there.

Jump Jump World and Card Derby are separate sites with their own hosting and their own privacy practices. This policy covers mkmgames.com and its puzzle game and account sites listed above.

Children's privacy

Our puzzle games are family-friendly. Accounts ask only for a username and password, never an email address or real name, and we suggest choosing a username that isn't your real name. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has put personal information in a username, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or how it's used changes, this page will be updated. Check back here for the current version.
